Tonic Cash Claim Rules

What does Tonic Cash Covers?

  • Tonic Cash is provided as a benefit of Tonic membership
  • Tonic Cash is applicable for the subscribers of the tonic service only.
  • Member has to be an active Tonic member (Free, Astha or Shurokkha) to be eligible to raise a claim.
  • The admission must be within the subscription period.
  • Tonic Cash covers legitimate admission to hospital for 3 nights (or more).
  • A member has to have provided the NID to be eligible to raise a claim.
  • The member is required to provide all requesting documents for Tonic to validate a claim.
  • All the valid documents need to be submitted.
  • You can get Tonic Cash for:
    • Acute Stroke/Acute MI (heart attack)
    • Acute Appendicitis
    • Dengue/Malaria/Chikunguniya
    • Road Accident/Emergency
    • Typhoid
    • Gastroenteritis
    • Acute exacerbation of COPD
    • Renal Stone
    • Joint Replacement
    • Many More

Tonic Cash Does not cover

  • Pregnancy related issues are not included in with Tonic Cash.
  • Cold/Fever/Flu
  • Headache/back pain/ abdominal pain(unspecified)
  • General Weakness (unspecified)
  • Hospitalization due to consuming addictive substance

Who is covered?

  • Tonic Cash is applicable for the subscribers of the tonic service only.
  • On registration, where NID is provided, it should match the NID of the tonic subscriber (not the SIM owner, unless they are the same).

Who provides the cover?

  • The insurance itself is offered by Pragati Life Insurance.
  • The insurer maintains the right to refuse claims they deem to be inappropriate.

What are the cash benefits for different Tonic membership?

  • Tonic Free - 1,000 taka; Eligible customer can make multiple claims per year (up to 4).
  • Tonic Astha; BDT 10,000/claim. Eligible customer can make multiple claims per year (up to 10).
  • Tonic Shurokkha; BDT 25,000/claim. Eligible customer can make multiple claims per year (up to 10).

General Rules

  • A member who was unsubscribed from tonic Astha or Shurokkha OR whose package expired, can re-subscribe. The 1 month waiting period for cash eligibility will apply.
  • All claims will be reviewed subject to payout and Tonic has total autonomy to make a decision on a payout.
  • Members are able to use the web/app or support center to get a status update of the claims raised.
  • Member needs to have mobile wallet to receive benefit (current supported wallets are Rocket and bKash; additional Mobile Financial Services options may be supported in the future).
  • Member has to claim within 30 days after discharge from hospitals.

Tonic Free

  • Cash becomes active after 1 calendar month from subscription date.
  • To be eligible to claim, must be a member in good standing based on activity in the previous month.

Any Paid Tonic Subscription (Astha or Shurokkha)

  • Tonic cash claims only become eligible after 1 calendar month stay with Tonic Astha or Shurokkha members, provided that the member has renewed on to the next month.
  • The benefit level is determined by the status of the member subscriber on admission and discharge from Hospital.

Change of Package during Admission

  • Change in a subscription status during an admission will result in the lower level benefit being paid. (During hospital admission if you change your package from Astha to Shurokkha than he will get Astha benefit)

How to make a cash claim?

Step 1
Collect the following documents:
  • Doctor Advice paper for admission/prescription
  • Discharge certificate
  • NID
  • Diagnosis Report
  • Treatment sheet
  • Hospital bill copy/Hospital ticket (Government hospital only)
Step 2
  • For raise a claim the customer has to login in www.mytonic.com by web or Tonic app or
  • You can raise a claim from your nearest Grameenphone center

How you will get cash?

  • You will get your money from tonic through Bkash or Rocket account.

To get Tonic Cash within 10 days

  • Call 20000 to inform before your hospital admission and submit all necessary documents after discharge from hospital

Document requirements for submitting a cash claim

  • GP will not accept except any overwriting / edited documents for claim.
  • Member needs to submit all required documents up front, to verify claims (Documents: Doctor's’ advice for hospitalization, Discharge certificate + NID, diagnosis report, treatment sheet, bill copy/ ticket copy, doctor’s advice/prescription).
  • On discharge paper and others report, doctors name and seal has to be visible or else claim would be rejected.

Missing Documents

  • If member sends claim with missing document then GP will provide max 3 to /4 working days to the member informing over phone to submit missing documents and if member customer does not send those document within due date, GP will close that claim.

Checking the status of a claim

  • Members are able to check the status of a claim via USSD, Web and App
  • Additionally member may call 20000

Decisions about claims

  • For every rejection/close claim, GP will make a call to the member to inform official decision.

Raising issues

  • Members may contact Customer Service via 20000 to raise any issues relating to cash claims.
